Entrust UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificates

Get Powerful SSL-based Security for your UC-enabled Communications Environment

Entrust UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificates have been developed primarily for use with Exchange, Lync, or Skype for Business Servers or environments where you need to secure multiple names across different domains. Our UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificates use Subject Alternative Names (SANs) to secure 250 domains, websites or subdomains with one certificate. Plus UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificates come with unlimited reissues, unlimited server licensing, and a website security bundle that finds malware and protects your site from being blacklisted.

Four domains are included in the base of each Entrust UC SSL Certificate. Purchasing more domains, sub-domains or hostnames is easy—and can be bought at just $49 each per year.

What Unified Communications SSL Certificates Secure

The defining feature of a UC SSL Certificate is the use of the SAN field in the certificate. In the SAN field any number of different domain names or common names. UC SSL Certificates are more cost efficient because they can secure external network names and be enabled to work on any included domain.

For example, you could get one UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificate to cover:

  • yourdomain.com
  • mail.yourdomain.com
  • autodiscover.yourdomain.com
  • example.com
  • dev.example2.com

Entrust UC Multi-Domain SSL Certificates for Exchange, Lync and Skype for Business Servers

To use the Domain Security feature in a UC SSL Certificate, Microsoft works with public X.509 certification authorities (CAs) to enable secure client access from the Internet to Exchange, Lync and Skype for Business servers.

A UC SSL Certificate from Entrust allows you to deploy the Domain Security feature and enable secure client access from the Internet. While developed for Unified Communications applications, Multi-Domain SSL can benefit anyone looking for simplicity of consolidating many domain names into a single SSL Certificate and single IP address.

Completing the Certificate Enrollment Process
When you buy an Unified Communications SSL Certificate you can add additional domains using the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) extension.

Before you attempt to complete the online certificate enrollment process, take a look at Entrust SSL Enrollment guide. Enrolling is faster and easier if you have collected the information you need before beginning the enrollment process.

What is the Subject Alternative Name field?

In cryptography, X.509 is a standard for a public key infrastructure (PKI) and Privilege Management Infrastructure (PMI). X.509 specifies standard formats for public key certificates, certificate revocation lists, attribute certificates and a certification path validation algorithm.

The Subject Alternative Name is an extension to X.509 that allows various values to be associated with a security certificate.

The purpose of a certificate with SAN is the same as that of other certificates. It provides a means for a server to establish its identity and then set up a secure communication. Certificates with SAN also provide a subject alternative name field that allows additional domain names to be protected with just one certificate.

SAN Certificates or UC SSL Certificates provide significant cost savings in many situations because they secure multiple domain names or sub-domains in one certificate. This can simplify situations that would require multiple IP addresses because one IP address per certificate is normally required.

What can you do with Subject Alternative Names?

  • Secure host names on different base domains in one SSL Certificate.
  • Virtually Host Multiple SSL sites on a single IP address.
  • Greatly simplify your Exchange Server SSL configuration.

Which SSL clients support Subject Alternative Names?

Most mobile devices support Subject Alternative Names.

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Safari have all supported Subject Alternative Names since 2003.
